Age: 29
Weight: 258.5 lbs
Height: 69.0 in
Supplements: HRX, Flameout, Metabolic Drive, Surge
Calories per Day: 2200.0
Training: multi-joint movements, complexes
Goals: lose weight, gain massive muscle Let's be honest, I'm fat and it pisses me off. This coming from a guy who still holds his high school squat record at 585, set a university freshman football player record with a 225 rep max at 28 (at this year's NFL combine, not one player was greater) and three rep squat max at 615.
But something changed; I worked out instead of trained. I only lifted a couple days a week. I ate like shit. After seeing a picture of me recently fishing without my shirt on, I nearly puked. My skinny friends have been clowning me at being the token fat kid of the group, and they even gave me a theme song...."Everyone Loves A Chubby Dude" by Turbonegro.
I'm tired of being the butt of jokes, having my friends look at old pictures and say how good I looked when I was smaller and how good they look because they are skinny little weaklings. I want to change my body, how I feel when pictures are taken of me, and I don't want to suck in my gut anymore when a hot girl walks into a room or feel embarrassed when I go to the beach.
I want to start kicking some ass with my body. I have the drive to want to change. I have the need to want to change. I have been following T-Nation for 5 years and the content is great, but 70% of it is over my head. I need direction, advice and your help.
Ask yourself this, how much fun is it to take a bodybuilder and help him get from 2nd place to 1st place? Not much. How much fun is it to take an already elite athlete and take him to the upper echelon of their sport? It's not. How much fun is it to totally transform a "chubby dude" into a cut, strong, high-self esteem sex machine? Now that is fun!
Not only is it fun but it's a challenge. In all your articles the writers talk about challenging yourself and your clients. Well, here you go. You have your challenge. Think you got what it takes?

those pictures f-ing suck!
Feel free to post more.
Do they suck because they don't reflect your physique accurately? Or do they suck because they do reflect your physique accurately?
Coach Thibaudeau will be posting shortly. |

Yes, your photos do suck! And get ready to work hard and DIET long and hard, otherwise in 3 months they will still suck!
I'll be frank with you: you have a hard road ahead of you. The good news is that it can be done; in fact, it MUST be done! The bad news is that it will take a will of iron to make it through.
Honestly, you'll probably want to commit suicide by donuts before this thing is over. I sincerely hope that you have the discipline to make it through.
You have no excuse to fail...
- You'll have one of the top strength coaches in the world to help you, one that completed a transformation not unlike what you are trying to do.
- You'll get the support of Biotest that will give you free supplements to help you reach your goal, including a top secret supplement that isn't even available yet: WORKOUT FUEL.
Face it, in the state you're in you'll need to work long and hard in the gym and Workout Fuel will help you do a lot more work than a normal human being should be able to tolerate, without overtraining.
- You are doing this in front of millions of people. If you fail, EVERYBODY will know it, and since this is the internet, it will be archived forever for all to see!
One of the problems I have is how you talk about your old lifting records. FORGET THEM! This can actually hold you back; you gotta live in the present.
The good thing is that you seem pretty gifted to tolerate heavy lifting, so we'll be able to do a lot of high quality work in the gym so you'll be able to reach your goal if you stick to the plan.
I asked you Monday to write down what you eat. Let's see it! No lying!
Tomorrow you'll take the day off from lifting but I want you to go to the gym and perform 45 minutes of moderate intensity cardio.
Starting tomorrow I also want you to wake up early and go walk outside for 45-60 minutes. Get used to it, your days will start like that for the next 2-3 months!
I'll email you your training program tomorrow and you'll start on Friday. I want you to post everything you do in the gym and outside (e.g. walking) as well as your diet every day.
Good luck! |

BTW, if you have any questions feel free to ask away, I'm here to help! I'll be in the "office" every day from 4 to 7pm and will periodically check in throughout the day. You guys will have the priority over every email or forum question I get. |

Bartl, you wrote, "Let's be honest, I'm fat and it pisses me off."
Good. That's exactly what we want to hear. I've never seen a happy , non-angry person make a big change in their physiques. You are ticked off, and that means you're ready to do this.
Now, based on your profile, I think you may be what Coach Thibaudeau calls a "size king." You like being big, even though "big" for you means you look mainly like a fat guy, not a guy who busts his ass in the gym.
As the "psychology guy" here at the Clinic, I want you think about this. You sound like you honestly want to lean up and show some of that muscle under there. Just keep in mind that you'll very likely to hit a point in this process where you'll feel "small", like one of those "skinny little weaklings" you wrote about.
Be prepared mentally. There's no way a big, strong guy like you is going to look skinny and weak, but you might feel that way as you cut up. This is an illusion, a trick of the mind. Fight it.
And remember, losing a couple of inches of pig lard off of you upper arm WILL make it smaller, but it will look bigger and more muscular.
You have the mental fire required to do this. Now use it.
